When choosing fabrics you normally want a balanced mixture of light, dark and medium fabrics. There should also be a good mix of busy and plainer fabrics as well as a background fabric. Stand back from your chosen fabrics and squinting your eyes may help. If you are not sure and if you have been looking at the fabrics for too long take a break and go and have a cup of tea.
